Beach House...

It seems that the beach is NOT recession proof. I don't think I've seen Bethany Beach this deserted since we started coming here. It's also the coolest (temp wise) as well. Low 80s. but really, when you've got a pool, an ocean, and a cold brew nearby, who cares?!

It's Official: I Love Baseball!

Attended the Nats vs. Cards game tonight. It was a cool evening. Of course, the stadium was only about half full (DC is NOT a baseball town) so just sitting in the stands. walking the concourse. watching the game. I just love the whole experience! There's nothing like a baseball crowd.
More fun to come this weekend! We'll be going to the Sat & Sun games.
Friday night is for the newly doctored....Mark Z! Congrats man.

The 'stache is Cashed!

Thank goodness Rick shaved off that ridiculous mustache! I can watch him at bat now and not giggle. (Well, not that we was doing so hot at bat lately...but he has started to show some spark!)

Rick Ankiel??!!??!!

So today, I rush home from work because Cards vs Cubs...classic baseball! You can't pass this stuff up people if you like baseball at all - regardless of whatever team you are rooting for.

Let's start with what we already know....
Albert...El Hombre....typical season start - and for those keeping score the bling is just as big as ever.

Yadi...still just as impressive behind the plate - his throw to second base is so dead on its like magic watching him in action.

Ludwick....shocked! 2 homeruns at Wrigley! I've got my eye on you....

CARP....oh my! I have said this all along - everyone's cards should not be riding on one pitcher for the entire season!!! (no pun intended) Get WELL dude!

OK - now some quick observations...
Duncan - I believe I have said this before...while I realize you do make the occasional great play....I think a quick review of some of the basic rules in base running are in order.....for instance today....I'm not sure if you recall but Soriano does have a good arm and will throw you out when you're not paying attention!!

Greene - I realize being the new guy and all - and everyone makes mistakes - relax dude - no fancy plays - just scoop the ball and throw to first - that's all I ask.

RICK ANKIEL - where the hell are you? enough said!!!

Get Well Soon Carp!

man, my heart sank when I saw that look on Carp's face.
Then Yadi's look.
and TLR.

I'm sending some healthy mojo your way dude.
I love watching you pitch like a rock star!

It's Still Early in the Season

and I haven't found out the winning combination yet. Despite wearing the Red Velvet Lounge Pants last night, we lost. I'm wearing mostly green today, along with my green St.Patty's Day Spring Training cap.

and I read today in the Post that Yadi has the lowest batting average in March/April in all of the majors. Huh? What about half the roster of the Washington Nationals? (not to diss the hometown team) I need to read how they're qualifying that!

How about stl boy David Freese? GREAT first outing I would say!

Poor Anissa

She's stuck in Chicago working this week. which means the only baseball she gets to see is arch rival baseball.

Red Velvet Lounge pants

....and Yadi ROCKED tonight!

Did you see that blazing speed? Was that a ball of lightning rounding the bases for a triple? yes - it's the newest speed demon in the Cards lineup - Yadier Molina! I was jumping up and down when he rounded 2nd to try and stretch that double into a triple! My hubby thought he was limping...but no, he was just putting on the jets!

and then Yadi follows that up with a home run!
Oh - and Albert got one too.
and Colby "Young 'un" Rasmus got his first major league hit! (take that ladies sitting behind us during Spring Training trying to decide if Colby was ready for the big game...)

so the red velvet pants may have helped out a little. I'll be wearing them again tomorrow!

Opening Day notes

#1 - I'm glad it didn't snow during the game! but - it looked downright cold! The look on Rick Ankiel's face in the 9th inning was like 'I'm freezing my patootie off here'

#2 - was that a Motte Meltdown? Let's not make a habit out of this. (Doesn't that name sound like a candy bar?!)

#3 - Michelob Hop Hound isn't all that bad!

#4 - my hat sequence from last year isn't working for wins this year. I'm going to switch to my red velour lounge pants for Tuesday's game!

todays game!

First and foremost...Happy Birthday to my Cardinals partner in crime....my sister, Amy!
The day started very wet!  It was raining so hard when we woke up this morning...oye! We checked every weather station, we did the the no rain dance - and guess what - it worked!  Game ON! We played the Baltimore Orioles today!  And we won in case you haven't seen the score yet.

When walking into the stadium I did a quick glance at the line up today....immediately I grabbed my sister's arm...YADI was in the line up.  Could this day get any better?  Did I say Carpenter was pitching today?  WOW!

Their were several highpoints today....obviously the Cards winning was a bonus.  Seeing Yadi walk onto the field for the first time (well for me) was awesome...and the last one, which isn't even baseball related....my 4 year old niece looks at me and says - "Trust in Me"....with her fingers wiggling around her eyes.  We watched Jungle Book the night before - she was singing the song from the snake.

Great day!  More will be reported later - I'm about to enjoy some sushi...IN FLORIDA!

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Ummmm. We have a problem.

I have 4 tickets to today's game...which starts in 10 minutes. I am still in DC! While on the runway during our take-off ..... there was a loud bang and then everything just sort of shut down. They turned us back to the airport. and we sat. Then they told us to get off the plane, but stay in the boarding areas. so we sat. Then they told us that they were going to try and fix the plane. 30 minutes later, they cancelled our flight.

so now, 150 passengers are all trying to get out of DC to get to warm sunny florida. We got another flight out later this afternoon.....but I still have 4 tickets to the game that I can't use. AND....my dear sister has just txt'd me to say she has LANDED in West Palm Beach. so not only has this incident ruined my day, it's now going to ruin her day too.....because we were supposed to pick her up and go to the game TOGETHER.

....so, here's to hoping that nothing else goes wrong today in our trek south.

See you in Jupiter!

This Saturday! I've been listening to MLB's Gameday Audio for the past two weeks. The weather report looks glorious. We've started to pack. Now we just need to get Yadi back to play for STL....(nothing against the Puerto Rican team, I'm just being a little self-centered at this point!)

Take, Me Out to Spring Training...

well, we had a pretty good run in blogging last year right? We petered out mid-season.

BUT NOW WE'RE BACK! and better than before because my fellow blogger, Cards fan and baby sister (awwwww!) and I will be going to Spring Training 2009 together!
The Birds' clubhouse better open the doors because "Chicks on the Bat" is coming to Jupiter FLA!

I land first on March 14th...but only by a couple of minutes! Anissa and I and our merry band of support staff will be driving straight from the airport to a baseball game.

so watch for more. We'll be bringing you the news straight from FLA!
